Understanding the Different Entities Involved in Your Credit Card Processing
As a Vantage Card Services merchant, you may receive communications from different entities that play a role in your credit card processing. Each of these organizations serves a specific function, and understanding their roles can help clarify why you receive notifications from them. Below is an overview of the key players in your payment processing ecosystem.
Vantage Card Services (VCS)
Vantage Card Services is your primary credit card processing provider. We facilitate your merchant account setup, provide customer support, and offer payment solutions tailored to your business needs. Any inquiries about your account, terminal setup, billing, or general payment processing should be directed to Vantage Card Services.
The Acquiring Bank - Global Payments
Your acquiring bank is Global Payments, the financial institution that processes credit card transactions on your behalf. They deposit your funds into your designated business bank account after each successful transaction. You may receive statements or communications from them regarding your processing activity, fees, and chargebacks.
Bill.com
Bill.com is a service that may be used for billing and invoicing purposes. If you receive communications from Bill.com, it is related to invoices or payments for services rendered.
Payment Gateways (Authorize.Net, PayTrace, etc.)
If your business processes payments online or through a virtual terminal, you may be using a payment gateway such as Authorize.Net or PayTrace. These platforms securely transmit payment information between your website, point-of-sale system, and the acquiring bank. Notifications from a payment gateway typically relate to transaction activity, security updates, or account maintenance.
Card Brands (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express)
Card brands set the rules and regulations for accepting credit card payments. While they do not process transactions directly, they oversee interchange fees, security standards, and dispute resolution. Occasionally, you may receive direct communications regarding industry updates, compliance requirements, or fraud prevention initiatives.
ControlScan - PCI Compliance
All of our merchants are reviewed for PCI compliance through ControlScan. PCI compliance is essential for ensuring that businesses securely process, store, and transmit credit card information. You may receive communications from ControlScan regarding your compliance status, necessary steps to maintain compliance, and security best practices.
Chargeback Communications - Global Payments
You may also receive communications from the Global Payments chargeback department. All information regarding the status of chargebacks on your account is available via the Global merchant portal. Please visit https://disputes.globalpay.com/ for updated information on your dispute. It is important to make sure you respond to any cardholder dispute within the allocated timeframe indicated on the dispute documentation. Once a merchant has gathered the necessary information, they can fax, mail, or upload through the link provided on the dispute letter, their rebuttal documentation.
The Merchant Portal
The merchant portal is an online platform that allows merchants to access transaction details, chargeback status, processing statements, and other account-related information. It serves as a central hub for managing your payment processing activity and reviewing important updates regarding your account.
Understanding Your Notifications
If you receive a communication from any of these entities and are unsure how it relates to your account, Vantage Card Services is here to help. Feel free to reach out to our support team for clarification on any notifications, statements, or updates you receive.
By understanding these different entities, you can better navigate the credit card processing landscape and ensure your business remains compliant and informed.
Vantage Card Services is a payment solutions provider that helps businesses accept credit and debit card payments—whether that's in person, online, or over the phone. We act as a merchant services provider, meaning we help businesses get set up with the tools, software, and support they need to process payments smoothly and securely.
Our relationship with Global Payments:
- Global Payments is one of the largest payment processors in the world.
- Vantage partners with Global Payments to access their powerful backend processing network.
- That means when a merchant processes a transaction through Vantage, the actual movement of money—authorization, clearing, and settlement—is handled through Global’s infrastructure.
- Vantage manages the merchant-facing side of the relationship: we handle the setup, support, pricing, terminal deployment, statement reviews, and day-to-day customer service.
